Effingham Day at the Capitol

This past week (Monday, February 10 – Tuesday, February 11, 2020) Joe Marchese, of Marchese Construction, had the distinct pleasure of traveling to Atlanta to meet with State Representatives regarding Effingham County for the annual Effingham Day at the Capitol. Mr. Marchese is currently serving as the Chairman of the board for the Effingham Chamber of Commerce and also had his business support the event as a Bronze Level sponsor.

The event was well attended with many business owners and local politicians in attendance. House Majority Leader Jon Burns, who had surgery on Friday, was in attendance bright and early Monday – which spoke volumes to importance of the event and its ability for discussion on the unlimited potential of Effingham County. Attendees were able to attend a GDOT meeting on Monday afternoon, which was followed by a wonderful reception at the Ritz Carlton courtesy of Brandt Herndon and his staff at the IDA.

Tuesday was a full day of discussion, meetings, and presentations. Members from the DNR, DOT, DOR, the Attorney General’s office, and the Lt. Governor’s office all spoke and provided open floor discussion for all in attendance. Issues ranged from budget concerns to the newly named coronavirus now known as CoVID-19.

A huge thanks goes out to Becky Shea, Andy Cripps, Jack Hill, Jon Burns, Kailyn Duesler, Representative Burns’ assistants, and Dayle Burns for making this event possible.
